Millennium Book
The most thorough work done on the history of Bradmore, its families and properties, was done in the lead up to the Millennium resulting in the publication of a book "Bradmore to AD 2000".
Only about 20 copies of this book were produced and we would like to make some of the vast amount of research in it more widely available on the village site.
This will include details of the families that lived in Bradmore and, in the future, the properties in the village. For reasons of confidentiality of those still living, both histories stop at the results of the 1911 census.
Background to the Book
The Bradmore History Group was formed in 1999 in response to villagers’ requests for a history of Bradmore to celebrate the millennium. The group compised G Ackroyd, S Clark, J Garner, K Hogg, G Naden, M Peregrine and J Randall.
Many current and past villagers have contributed documentary and oral material and additional information was provided by Mr Dennis Humphreys on Bradmore Post Office, members of the Bunny History Group, and family historians worldwide via the internet. Thanks are due to the staff at Nottinghamshire Archives for their assistance to the research team and to Rushcliffe Council for an award under their Small Arts Grant Scheme, which has enabled copies of the publication ‘Bradmore to AD 2000’ to be deposited in local libraries.
