THE 3 Cs GROUP HAS RAISED £120 FOR TOILET-TWINNING!
This is enough to twin two of our Church / Community Hall toilets with new toilets in parts of the world which do not currently have them.
One billion people across the world don’t have any toilet facilities, and just use the open ground.
There are 46 countries where at least half the population don’t have access to proper toilet facilities.
Every minute 3 children under the age of 5 die because of dirty water and poor sanitation.
These statistics are from the World Health Organisation and UNICEF.
Toilet Twinning funds education of the local community in basic hygiene, hand washing etc, and explains to them why their children are dying from lack of cleanliness and poor sanitation. They go on to lead local involvement in the design of their new facilities and deciding on the best location, and eventually help them to build their own latrine.
The countries where Toilet Twinning is currently working are listed here. You can vote for your preferred location (up to 2 choices) on the list inside the Community Hall on the noticeboard. The two most popular will receive our donations, and we will receive certificates for our toilet doors.
Cambodia Bangladesh Pakistan Guatemala Democratic Republic of Congo Uganda Malawi Sierra Leone Liberia Ivory Coast Central African Republic
(If you would like to contribute to our 3rd toilet door, please see Sheila Clark.)
